Chellia Watson Sparks Season-Best Fourth Quarter, Propelling Women's Basketball to Victory over North Carolina A&T

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Fighting back from a second-half deficit, USC Upstate women's basketball earned the team's first victory of the 2021-22 season when trailing after three quarters behind a season-best 27-point fourth quarter, downing North Carolina A&T 67-64 Saturday at the G.B. Hodge Center.

Scoring 10 points in the fourth quarter, redshirt sophomore guard Chellia Watson poured in a game-high 22 points while passing out a game-high five assists to lead Upstate to its second Big South Conference victory of the season. The game marked Watson's second consecutive 20-plus point outing, claiming her third such game of the year.

With Watson leading a quartet of double-figure scorers, junior guard Jada Logan finished with 12 points and pulled in 12 rebounds, posting her first double-double of the season, giving Upstate a double-double in consecutive games for the first time since late in the 2020-21 season. Third Quarter
  • Opening the second half by pushing a scoring run to 6-0, North Carolina A&T extended its lead up to seven, its largest in the game to that point. The Spartans cut the lead back to three with a short 4-0 run before a 10-4 Aggie run gave North Carolina A&T its largest lead of the game, nine points, with four-plus minutes remaining in the quarter.
