CHARLESTON, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's basketball team fought back to earn a 78-73 road win in overtime on the road at Charleston Southern despite never leading in the second half Saturday in the Buccaneer Fieldhouse.
The Spartans erased a 10-point halftime deficit tying the game at 65 with 13 seconds to play when freshman guard
Jordan Gainey converted on a pair of free throws with 13 seconds to play. The wild finish was set up by a stalwart defensive effort by the Spartans and an overturned charge call against Gainey that sent him to the free-throw line. The win gives the Spartans the season sweep of the Bucs.
