Women's Golf Advances to First-Ever Match Play Championship Round, Earning a Runner-Up Finish at the Big South Championship

NINETY SIX, S.C. – After claiming a runner-up finish in the stroke-play portion of the 2022 Big South Women's Golf Championship to earn the No. 2 overall seed for the match-play portion of the event, USC Upstate women's golf advanced to the championship match for the first time in program history Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans opened the afternoon with a 4-0-1 victory over No. 3 Charleston Southern to advance to the championship match. Redshirt juniors Beem Pabsimma (5&4) and Kathryn Elliott (2&2), redshirt sophomore Preaw Nontarux (2&1), and sophomore Suwarin Yord-in (3&2) each won their matches while redshirt sophomore Abigayle Hatcher tied her match.
In the championship match, Upstate fought until the absolute end as Nontarux (20 holes) and Pabsimma (22 holes) pushed their matches to extra holes with the pair earning a split. Yord-in captured her match, joining Nontarux as the two Spartan winners in a 3-2-0 setback in the match.
