Spartanburg,
S.C. - Upstate Men's Soccer was back at home for the second time this week, facing Radford University for a Saturday afternoon matchup. As a team, the Spartans set a new game high of three goals and four assists. In what was a competitive game, Upstate would come away with a 3-2 win over the Highlanders.
The first shot came just a minute into play from
Dario Stadler. Both sides would continue to trade shots, but each team struggled to get the ball past the keeper. It was
Elijah Jackson who scored first in the closing minutes of the first half, heading the ball into the net off of a corner kick pass from
Fabian Dietrich. The second half began similar to the first, this time with Radford firing off back-to-back shots.
Dzenan Cerimagic earned his fifth goal of the season off of an assist from
Liam Duggan, giving Upstate the 2-0 advantage. The Highlanders tied the match with fourteen minutes remaining. It wouldn't be until the closing seconds that
Ollie West found the back of the net off an assist from
Liam Duggan and
Adrian Panaite to give Upstate the lead and win over the Highlanders.
Cooper Jennings was back in goal for Upstate, facing a new season-high of 22 shots while collecting seven saves.
Dario Stadler led the Spartans in shots with four and shots on goal with two, followed by
Dzenan Cerimagic who added two shots of his own.
