Men's Soccer Falls Short to UNC Asheville

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Men's soccer returned to County University Soccer Stadium for the final home game of the season, celebrating senior night against UNC Asheville. The Spartans battled against the Bulldogs, but ultimately dropped the match with a final score of 4-1.
Before the match, seniors Emmanuel Uwazie, Fabian Dietrich, Carson Hickok, and Anthony Cox were all recognized for their achievements.
The match began quickly, with UNC Asheville claiming the first shot a minute into play. Goalkeeper Emmanuel Uwazie made his first career save to prevent the Bulldogs from taking an early lead. Shayne Abrams was the first Spartan to take aim at the goal, firing off a shot roughly ten minutes into play. Dzenan Cerimagic led Upstate in shots with five.
Late in the second half, Adrian Panaite put Upstate on the board, netting his fifth goal of the season off a cross from Anthony Cox. Panaite finished the night with two shots, both on target. The backline held strong for the Spartans, with Daniel Busby, Elijah Jackson, and Carson Hickok all making key plays to keep the Bulldogs offense at bay. Goalkeeper Cooper Jennings had an outstanding performance in the net, making 11 saves on the night, moving his total number of saves this season to 79.
