How It Happened
Running her streak of consecutive matches notching double-digit kills to nine—standing as the second-longest streak by a Spartan attacker this season—freshman outside hitter Summer Kohler extended her career-long streak with 11 terminations to lead the Spartans Friday evening. Her total moves her season mark to 277 kills, putting her in lockstep with senior middle blocker Ady O'Grady (279), who finished just shy of double-figures with eight kills, for the team and conference lead in the category.
Â
Freshman middle blocker Kensley Haneline ended the night just behind Kohler and O'Grady with six kills with redshirt sophomore outside hitter Bri Brathol adding four terminations on the scoresheet. Distributing the ball for the offense, sophomore setter Kamyla Vega David tallied 24 assists.
Â
Defensively, sophomore defensive specialist Hannah Campbell collected a season and match-high 15 digs, reaching double-digit digs for the 12th time this year. Recording her 17th instance of 10 or more digs in a match, freshman libero Sophia Overholt dug 10 balls, joining Campbell in double-figures.
Â
At the net, Haneline and O'Grady led the Spartans with three total blocks apiece, each recording a pair of solo blocks and a block assist. With three total blocks, O'Grady ties former Spartan Emily Koelling for the program's Division I era (2007-pres.) record for career total blocks with 323 in her career.
