CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Capturing the team's league-best 15
th Big South Conference weekly award of the season, USC Upstate volleyball's
Summer Kohler earned her third career weekly honor, being named the Big South Freshman of the Week as announced by the league Monday afternoon.
A native of North Port, Fla., Kohler led all league players in kills and points per set, averaging 4.56 kills and 4.83 points per set for matches played between Oct. 27 and Nov. 2. She ranked second among conference players in total kills and total points, using just two matches to reach her totals of 41 kills and 43.5 points.
Against High Point, she fashioned a career-best 22 kills and 23.5 points—both high-water marks for Big South players for matches played last week—while adding 10 digs to register her seventh double-double of the year. She followed up with 19 kills, tying her career-high entering the weekend, against Radford, accruing the total behind a .341 hitting efficiency.
