CHARLOTTE, N.C. – USC Upstate women's soccer collected a pair of Big South Conference weekly honors as Katelyn Economopolous was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Hannah Wilt earned Defensive Player of the Week recognition, the conference announced Monday.
The duo played pivotal roles in the Spartans' 1-0 road victory over High Point on Saturday, helping USC Upstate remain unbeaten in Big South Conference play.
Economopolous earned Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors after delivering the game-winning goal in the 85th minute against the Panthers. She finished the contest with three shots, including two on goal, while recording her third goal of the season. Her late-game heroics secured three crucial conference points for the Spartans.
On the defensive side, Wilt earned Defensive Player of the Week recognition following a shutout performance in goal. The goalkeeper played all 90 minutes against High Point, recording five saves to keep the Panthers off the scoreboard. Wilt came up with two critical stops in the 82nd minute to preserve the scoreless tie before Economopolous delivered the game-winner just minutes later.
The performances helped USC Upstate improve to 9-2-3 overall and 5-0-0 in Big South play, continuing the Spartans' strong run through the conference schedule.
