SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate men's soccer goalkeeper Jarrett Wuerslin has earned national recognition after being named an honorable mention for the Top Drawer Soccer Men's Team of the Week, announced Tuesday, October 27.
The redshirt junior from Charlotte, N.C., received the recognition following a strong week between the posts, highlighted by a five-save performance in the Spartans' 2-1 Big South Conference victory over UNC Asheville on Saturday, October 24.
Wuerslin played all 90 minutes against the Bulldogs, making five saves on six shots on goal while recording an .833 save percentage. His performance was highlighted by two crucial penalty-kick saves against Tyler Ware, helping Upstate maintain its advantage and secure three conference points in the Ingles I-26 Rivalry matchup.
Earlier in the week, Wuerslin recorded seven saves in 75 minutes of action against Furman on Tuesday, October 20. Across the two contests, he combined for 12 saves in just over 165 minutes of action.
The Spartans return home Saturday, October 31, to host Winthrop in their regular-season finale. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at County University Soccer Stadium.
