LEXINGTON, Va. – Returning to VMI, Upstate track and field competed in the two-day VMI Winter Relays. As a team, the Spartans once again proved to be successful in a scored meet, with the men placing first, totaling 117 points, and the women finishing fourth.
The teams combined for 36 top performances and 22 new personal bests.
Day One: Friday was highlighted by the men's DMR team of
Josh Gillis.
Cason McKinney,
Elias Harrison, and
Cameron Moors secured first place in the event with a time of 10:09.11.
Taylor Thomas took first in women's shot put, throwing 13.49m.
Day Two: It was none other than
Xavier Stone who placed first in men's triple jump. Stone jumped a distance of 14.94m. This is the second consecutive meet Stone has earned a first-place finish in the event.
Jenelda Aristhil took first in women's weight throw with a distance of 17.91m.
