CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Big South Conference announced the Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the week of Feb. 2-8. Redshirt Junior Guard, Karmani Gregory scored his way being named the Big South Men's Basketball Player of the week. Gregory is the second Upstate Men's Basketball player to receive this honor during the 2025-26 season and the third player during the Marty Richter era (Breylin Garcia, Mason Bendinger, Karmani Gregory).
The Redshirt Junior guard from Palmetto, Florida is continuing to make the jump that Head Coach Marty Richter saw at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. Gregory is second on the team averaging 15.2 points per game while shooting 41 percent from the field, 33 percent from beyond the arc and 76 percent from the charity stripe. During the week of Feb. 2-8, Gregory averaged his highest weekly average with 25.5 points through two games leading with 22 points against UNC Asheville and surpassing his career high in the overtime win with 29 points while shooting 7-for-17 from the field and a career best of 12-for-12 from the charity stripe. Gregory was active on the boards, with five rebounds a game and displayed his IQ of finding the open man averaging 5.5 assists a game. Gregory's jump continues as he added two 20+ point performances during the 2024-25 season and has jumped to seven 20+ point games during the 2025-26 campaign. As Karmani Gregory continues to push the Spartans in the second half on conference play, he looks to continue being a consistent combo guard who will do whatever it takes to win. This marks the first weekly honor for Gregory and his second Upstate honor.
