Another Strong Year in the Classroom Sees 211 Spartans and 78.15 Percent of Upstate Student-Athletes Named to Big South Presidential Honor Roll

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced today that 77.49 percent of eligible student-athletes earned Presidential Honor Roll status for their work in the classroom in 2025-26. To be named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll, student-athletes much maintain a grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or better for the recently completed academic year. Furthermore, eight full-member institutions cleared 70%, with this being the third consecutive year the Conference was at or above 74 percent.
Associate A.D. for Student-Athlete Enrichment and Senior Woman Administrator Sarah (Gildersleeve) Jones couldn't have been prouder of the student-athletes' this past year. Gildersleeve Jones says, I am thrilled to celebrate a record-setting number of student-athletes earning a spot on the Big South Presidential Honor Roll! This incredible achievement showcases the hard work, determination, and commitment our student-athletes bring to the classroom every day. We could not be prouder of the way they continue to raise the bar and represent USC Upstate with excellence!
USC Upstate had 211 student-athletes names to the 2025-26 Big South Presidential Honor Roll. Ranking fourth in the Big South Conference, and a department-record 78.15 percent of Spartan student-athletes, besting last year's record of 77.51 percent.
The Big South achieved its second-highest Overall Conference Percentage with 77.49 percent of eligible student-athletes being named to the Honor Roll.
