CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Following another strong week leading the USC Upstate women's soccer attack, redshirt freshman forward Jasmyn Mitchner has been named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Mitchner earns the weekly honor after playing a key role in Upstate's comeback effort against Furman Thursday night. The Tampa, Fla., native recorded three points behind a goal and an assist as the Spartans erased a two-goal halftime deficit to earn a 2-2 draw on the road.
Later in the half against the Paladins, Mitchner provided the equalizer herself, finding the back of the net in the 78th minute to complete the comeback.
The three-point performance continued an impressive start to Mitchner's first season in the Green and White. She has scored in three consecutive matches, finding the back of the net against Wofford, Eastern Kentucky and Furman. Mitchner has four goals on the season while also providing multiple assists for the Spartan attack.
Mitchner joined Upstate ahead of the 2026 season after spending the spring semester at UCF. Prior to her collegiate career, she starred at T.R. Robinson High School in Tampa, finishing as the program's all-time leader with 101 goals and 233 points.
The honor marks the first Big South weekly award of Mitchner's career.
