
Spartans Close Competition at Elon Women's Invitational

BURLINGTON, N.C. – The USC Upstate women's golf team closed out the Elon Women's Invitational on Tuesday, battling through the final round at Alamance Country Club to finish 13th in the team standings.
The Spartans posted a 316 in the final round, and finished the 54-hole tournament with a 953 (+101) team total. The tournament was contested at the par-71, 6,225-yard Alamance Country Club layout.
Jidapat Siddhirujirot paced the Spartans throughout the tournament, finishing tied for 32nd with a 226 (+13). Siddhirujirot opened the tournament with a 78 before producing one of Upstate's strongest individual rounds of the event with a 71 in the second round. She closed the tournament with a 77 to finish at 13-over par.
Suwapat Kasetmongkolchai finished second among the Spartans and 50th overall with a 234 (+21). Kasetmongkolchai recorded rounds of 79, 76 and 79, including her best round of the tournament in Monday's second round.
Emilia Karlsson provided one of the biggest bright spots for Upstate in the final round, firing a 74 (+3), the Spartans' lowest individual score of the day.
Karlsson finished the tournament with a 245 (+32). After opening with an 84, she carded an 87 in the second round before making a significant improvement in the final round, dropping 13 strokes to post a 74.
Olivia Shields concluded the tournament with a 248 (+35) following rounds of 81, 81 and 86. Madison Dixon completed the Upstate lineup with an 88 in the final round.
Elon captured the team championship with an 861 total, while William & Mary finished second at 882 and Wofford placed third at 884. Elon also produced the individual champion, as Lilli Downer finished with a 210 (-3).
Upstate will return to action on October 12-13, traveling to Columbus, Ga. to compete in the Haskins Award Invitational at the Country Club of Columbus.
