Head Coach Marty Richter Announces 2026-27 Non-Conference Schedule

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate head men's basketball coach Marty Richter has announced the Spartans' 2026-27 non-conference schedule, featuring a 16-game slate with matchups against opponents from across the nation.
The Spartans' non-conference schedule features six games inside the G.B. Hodge Center and 10 contests away from Spartanburg, highlighted by road tests against East Carolina, Coastal Carolina, Campbell, Davidson, Butler and Miami.
"I'm excited about the games we were able to schedule for this non conference," said Richter. "We have great tests that will prepare us for Big South play."
Opening the Season on the Road
Upstate opens the 2026-27 campaign on Monday, Nov. 2, traveling to Greenville, North Carolina, to face East Carolina. The Spartans then return to Spartanburg for their home opener on Friday, Nov. 6, welcoming South Carolina State to the G.B. Hodge Center.
A quick turnaround sends Upstate back on the road on Monday, Nov. 9, when the Spartans visit Coastal Carolina. Upstate returns home two days later to host Bob Jones on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
The Spartans continue their early-season stretch with a trip to Campbell on Saturday, Nov. 14, before returning to the Hodge Center to host Samford on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
Thanksgiving Stretch Features Pair of Road Contests
Upstate hits the road for consecutive games leading into Thanksgiving, beginning with a matchup at UNC Greensboro on Saturday, Nov. 21. The Spartans then head to Charleston to face The Citadel on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
The month concludes back in Spartanburg as Upstate welcomes West Georgia to the Hodge Center on Sunday, Nov. 29.
The Spartans begin December at home, hosting Georgia Southern on Wednesday, Dec. 2, before embarking on a challenging three-game road swing.
Spartans Face Challenging December Slate
The December road stretch begins on Saturday, Dec. 5, as the Spartans visit North Carolina Central. Upstate then travels to Davidson on Saturday, Dec. 12, followed by a trip to Indianapolis to face Butler on Wednesday, Dec. 16.
Following the three-game road swing, Upstate returns to the G.B. Hodge Center on Friday, Dec. 18, hosting Paine College.
The Spartans' final road contest of the non-conference slate comes on Monday, Dec. 21, when Upstate travels to Coral Gables, Florida, to take on Miami.
Upstate closes out its non-conference schedule in Spartanburg on Monday, Dec. 28, welcoming Virginia University of Lynchburg to the G.B. Hodge Center.
