Antonio Carter joined the Upstate sports performance staff as a graduate assistant in August of 2024 after obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis on exercise science at North Carolina A&T University. 

Carter is originally from Orangeburg, South Carolina. He graduated from OCSD High School for Health Professionals and participated in varsity football and basketball at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. He continued his athletic career at North Carolina A&T State University, where he played football all four years while earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis on exercise science.  

Carter is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Sport Management with a specialization in athlete development at the University of Florida. During his time at NC A&T, Antonio gained valuable experience in strength and conditioning by working with several organizations, including Apex Athletic Performance, Proehlific Park, and the university's rec center. He further advanced his career in collegiate coaching through internships at Duke University and UNC Chapel Hill, where he worked with teams such as Volleyball, Women’s Soccer, Swim & Dive, Men’s Lacrosse, Wrestling, Rowing, and Men’s Golf.  

Carter where he is responsible for Track & Field, Cross Country, and Throws, and also assists with Men’s Basketball and Softball.
