Catherine Harney joined the USC Upstate external relations team as a Graduate Assistant on August 1st, 2024. She joins the Spartans after graduating from Transylvania University, where she was a student worker all four years in Athletic Communications.
Harney becomes the contact for women’s soccer, men’s and women’s track and field, and men’s and women’s golf.
She covered the historic 2024 season for women’s soccer, where the program earned both the Big South Regular Season and Tournament championships for the first time, earning a berth to the NCAA Tournament. Harney also covered the 2025 historic season for men’s golf, which culminated in the program’s first-ever Big South Tournament Championship and appearance in an NCAA Regional.
A native of North Chesterfield, VA, Harney earned her undergraduate degree in Health and Exercise Science while being a four-year field hockey student-athlete.
Currently, she is pursuing her master’s degree in Sport and Entertainment Management at the University of South Carolina.
