University of South Carolina Upstate

Jake Suvak joined USC Upstate in 2022 as the Director of Strength and Conditioning. In 2023, The Strength and Conditioning Department was rebranded as the Sports Performance Department to better represent the holistic approach to sports performance that Suvak and his staff implemented in the weight room. Following the rebrand, Suvak was named the Assistant AD for Sports Performance in 2023. 
 
In addition to serving as the sports performance coach for the Men’s Basketball and Baseball teams at USC Upstate, Suvak oversees all things related to sports performance including strength and conditioning, sports science, and nutrition.

Suvak is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA and holds the Exos Performance Specialist certification.
 
Before coming to Upstate, Suvak spent three years at Nova Southeastern and was the primary strength and conditioning coach for the Sharks' men's basketball, baseball and volleyball programs. He also oversaw the graduate assistant program development and implementation for all other teams at NSU. Suvak was also responsible for the daily operation of the weight room, student-athlete body composition and nutrition education, Graduate Assistant continuing education program, and Intern CSCS prep program.
 
Before joining Nova Southeastern in 2019, Suvak worked as an intern at the University of South Florida (2018-19) while completing his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science. During this time, Suvak also became XPS certified and worked as an Exos performance specialist in Tampa in their private facility, and with the NFLPA Trust.
Suvak received his bachelor’s degree in 2018 from Westfield State University, where he played ice hockey for the Owls. Suvak stayed busy during his college summers completing a Strength and Conditioning internship at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio (2018), working as a personal trainer at ASAP Fitness (2016-18), and working as the Strength and Conditioning coach at Ohio Hockey Academy (2014-15).
 
Suvak currently resides in Greer with his fiancé, Chelsey and daughter, Winnie.
