Kanett Haynes is in her 15th year as the Athletics Business Manager at USC Upstate. She is also a budget analyst for the Administrative and Business Affairs Department.
Her responsibilities include the day-to-day operation of the Athletics Business Office including accounts payables, budget analysis and reporting, preparing journal entries, cash/revenue collection, purchasing, reimbursements, team travel credit card management, EADA reporting and NCAA audits/financial reporting. She attends, presents, and participates in semi-annual University budget workshops; provide technical advice and assistance to entry level accountants or other university staff with fiscal related matters and assists the budget manager with special projects.
Haynes is a 1997 graduate of the University of Central Florida, earning a bachelor's degree in Public Administration in 1997. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Indian River Community College in 1995. After relocating to Spartanburg in 2007, she earned an Associate in Accounting with electives in Information Systems from Spartanburg Community College. Haynes also earned her MBA in May 2022 from USC Aiken.
Prior to earning her associate degree from SCC and entering the field of college athletics, Haynes had a successful career working in county government in Florida and South Carolina. She began her career as a Fiscal Services Analyst in the Orange County Government in Orlando, Fla., from 1997-2004. She developed budgets in accordance with program needs, reported monthly judicial caseload statistics, conducted research and monitored monthly budget and fiscal activities.
She left her position in Orange County and became a Senior Analyst for the Seminole County Government in Sanford, Fla., from 2005-07. Her responsibilities included acting as a liaison and assisting departments with all budget related matters, analyzing departmental budget requests and revenue estimates, formulating recommendations, monitoring the expenditure of funds to be consistent with county goals and operational objectives, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and providing fiscal accountability. She prepared quarterly reports, expenditure and revenue projections, budget amendments, and budget transfers. Additionally, she attended budget workshops and assisted in the preparation of the annual budget book publication.
Haynes and her family relocated to Spartanburg in 2007 where she began a one-year stint as a Budget Analyst for the Spartanburg County Government. She assisted with budget management and analysis, budget preparation and assisted in the development and implementation of the new local hospitality tax, among a myriad of other duties.
Haynes is a native of Vero Beach, Fla. She is the proud parent of four children; Xzavier, Charity, Harmony and Jimmy, Jr.
Haynes is a volunteer for Mobile Meals of Spartanburg.
