Ryan Frye joins USC Upstate's athletics external relations team August 2, 2021 after serving at Morehead State University over the last 5 years. For the Spartans he will be the primary point person for Upstate’s men’s basketball, men's soccer, volleyball, baseball, men's and women's golf.
Frye has an undergraduate (2017) and two graduate degrees from Morehead State (‘18/’20), and he began working with the media relations team while an undergraduate. Most recently he worked with the Eagles women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, volleyball and beach volleyball programs. He covered the MSU volleyball team’s historic NCAA Tournament run most recently this spring.
At Morehead State, Frye collaborated with Dr. Steve Chen, MSU Professor of Sport Management on a published article entitled “Content Analysis of a Collegiate Athletic Twitter Account: Practical Applications for Promotion and Attendance Increase.” The article was published in the Applied Research in Coaching and Athletics Annual.
A native of Winchester, Ky., Frye also has experience as an on-air talent for select sports on radio and ESPN+ broadcasts.
