SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Three USC Upstate tennis players will carry six-game win streaks into the Elon Fall Invitational this weekend at the Powell Tennis Courts. On the men's side, both sophomore Nico Ospina and junior Arnaldo Lovera each won their singles flights at the ETSU Fall Challenge and three matches at the Wofford Fall Challenge and on the women's side, sophomore Emilia Milovanovic notched the same feats. Both teams will take on student-athletes from Longwood, Campbell and Elon in the tournament.
One Away: Senior Anna Novo needs just one win at this weekend's Elon Fall Invitational to tie Diana Martinez (2004-08) for the career singles win record. Novo has posted 72 wins during her career and the 124th-ranked Venezualen is off to an 8-2 start this season.
Os Oh Sweet: Senior Leandro Osorio, with a doubles win with sophomore partner Nico Ospina, at the Wofford Fall Challenge, passed his former doubles cohort, Sebastian Gonzales-Orbegoso, for third in the schools career doubles record book with his 55th career doubles win.
Dani's Double Trouble: Senior Daniela Lovera won her 51st career doubles match last weekend with freshman partner Cinthya Lazaro, tying her for fourth in Upstate's career record book with Maria Herrera (2005-08).
Going For 40
Although junior Javier Tori became the 12th player in the men's tennis program's history on Saturday at the Wofford Fall Challenge, he may be joined in short time by three others on the men's roster. All juniors, Arnaldo Lovera enters the Elon Invitational with 39 wins, Jack Roux enters with 37 and Renzo Airaldi enters the week with 33 wins.
