Gallman Remains Strong At PGA Q School

Kannapolis, N.C. – Former USC Upstate men's golfer and Gaffney, S.C., native Josh Gallman turned in his second straight round under par and is tied for 14th after 54 holes of the First Stage of PGA Q School Thursday afternoon at the Club at Irish Creek.
The top 23 players and ties will advance to the Second Stage of Q School from the Club at Irish Creek site. Gallman, tied for 14th, is in position to achieve just that with 18 holes left to play. The final round will take place Friday. He will tee off at 9:40 a.m. on the first hole.
Gallman, who graduated from Upstate in May and turned pro later that month, carded a 1-under-par 71 on Thursday. He shot a 4-under 67 Wednesday and stands 3-under for the tournament. Gallman had a steady round and made a push at the end to record his second-straight round under par.
After opening the round with three pars, he bogeyed the par-4 fourth hole. He went on to make par on the next eight holes before birdying the par-5 13th to get back to even for the day. He carded a birdie on the par-4 16th to move to 1-under for the round and 3-under for the tournament.
Fellow former Spartan Michael Lawrence, who also ended his career at Upstate in May and turned pro at the same time as Gallman, shot a 1-over-par 72 and stands tied for 57th at 7-over. He had four birdies and five bogeys on the day. He stands eight shots out of position to move on the Second Stage of Q School.
