Spartan Soccer Programs Honored by NSCAA

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced the academic awards for the 2009-10 academic year and both the men's and women's soccer squads at USC Upstate were among those honored.
Upstate was one of four Atlantic Sun institutions to have both soccer programs recognized (Florida Gulf Coast, Mercer and Stetson). With four institutions on both lists, the A-Sun ranked third behind the Big East Conference (6) and the Ivy League (5).
In all, 13 Atlantic Sun Conference programs earned recognition on the list for having a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Nine of the 11 women's soccer programs appeared on the list making the A-Sun the top academic women's soccer conference in the nation with 82 percent of the teams earning the national honor.
