Harris Earns Honorable Mention All-Region Honors From Cobra Magazine

Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate freshman outside hitter Cori Harris (Champaign, Ill.) capped a strong freshman season by earning honorable mention all-region honors from Cobra Magazine.
Cobra Magazine's purpose is to celebrate the success of African American volleyball players in hopes of encouraging young African American girls across the country to play the sport.
Harris emerged as a go-to player for Upstate as a freshman. She led the team with 296 kills as a starter in 27 of the 28 matches on the year. She also topped the Spartans with 34 aces, while ranking third in digs and fourth in blocks.
Harris was the only freshman in the A-Sun to rank in the top 10 in kills, aces and points per set. She finished the year ranked 10th in kills (2.77/game), sixth in aces (0.32/game) and 10th in points per game (3.27/game).
"Cori was a tremendous addition to our team and raised the level of our team's play this year," said Upstate head coach Jennifer Calloway. "She was one of the strongest freshmen in our conference and truly deserves this honor. She is so talented and it was exciting to see what she added to our team.
"Cori is such an amazing volleyball player on the court and an even better person off it. We are so blessed to have a player of Cori's caliber and character on our team."
Harris recorded double digit kill totals in 13 matches on the year, tallying a career-high 24 kills against Western Illinois in Bradley's tournament in August. She recorded double figure dig totals on 13 occasions, including a career-high of 21 at Wofford in mid-September en route to earning all-tournament honors at the Wofford Invitational. She finished the season with nine double-doubles.
