Gallman Second In Pre-Qualifying For PGA Q School

Valdosta, Ga. – Former USC Upstate golfer and Gaffney, S.C., native Josh Gallman began his pursuit of qualifying for the PGA Tour Tuesday. He opened the first round of pre-qualifying for the PGA Tour's Q School by shooting a 3-under-par 69 and is tied for second heading into Wednesday's second round at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
Gallman, who graduated in May from Upstate and turned pro in late-May, birdied the 420-yard par-4 first hole to move to 1-under-par. He then recorded par on his next nine holes before moving to 2-under with a birdie at the par-5 11th. He gave a stroke back with a bogey on the par-4 13th, but made birdie on the 16th and 18th holes to finish at 3-under.
Samuel DelValOnaderra carded a 5-under 67 to take the lead after the first round of play. Gallman is tied for second with Chris Wolfe. He is not the only Spartan attempting to move through pre-qualifying for Q School. Michael Lawrence, who finished his career with Gallman in May, shot a 73 and is tied for 14th after the first round.
The PGA will announce the number of individuals who qualify for the first stage of Q School sometime during the pre-qualifying rounds this week.
Gallman has had a tremendous start to his professional career. He won his first professional tournament in his professional debut in the River Falls event on the Carolina Mountain Tour. He claimed two more wins on the CMT, claimed a second-place finish in his first eGolf Tour event and claimed two top 10 finishes in two events on the Hooters Summer Series. He also qualified for a spot in the PGA Nationwide Tour 's Knoxville Open in August.
