Gallman 10th, Lawrence 19th At PGA Q School Pre-Qualifying

Valdosta, Ga. – Former USC Upstate standouts Josh Gallman and Michael Lawrence are halfway through pre-qualifying for the PGA Tour Q School, and both are in position to advance to the first stage of Q School with 36 holes to play in the pre-qualifying tournament at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club Wednesday afternoon.
Gallman, from Gaffney, S.C., and Lawrence, from Easley, S.C., both finished their four-year careers at Upstate in May Both turned pro in May and have enjoyed success early in their professional careers. Playing at the same site, the duo is in position to advance to the first stage of Q School. Gallman is tied for 10th in the tournament, while Lawrence is tied for 19th.
Gallman opened the tournament with a 69 on Tuesday. He struggled a little on Wednesday and carded a 76. He stands 1-over-par and is six shots back of leader Chris Wolfe, who is 5-under. Lawrence opened with a 73 Tuesday and followed it up with a 75. He is at 4-over and tied for 19th in the tournament.
The PGA announced Wednesday that the top 41 scores and ties will move on to the first stage of Q School for the PGA Tour.
Gallman opened the day with a birdie on the first hole, but struggled on the rest of the front nine. He had a double bogey and four bogeys to go out in 5-over-par 41. However, He carded three birdies on the back nine to save the round and keep him in position to move on after this week.
Lawrence had a fairly consistent day, finishing with a birdie and four bogeys to record a 75 on the day. Tied for 19th, he is also in position to secure a spot in the first stage of Q School.
