
San Diego Tops Upstate in ITA Kick-off Consolation Match

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – After falling to Clemson on day one of the Knoxville, Tenn., ITA regional, the USC Upstate men's tennis team fell to San Diego, 7-0, in the consolation match on Saturday afternoon at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
Ramiro Blanco was the only Spartan to not fall in straight sets during singles play. Blanco dropped set one to Patrick Pohlman, 0-6. Blanco battled back and won the second set 6-2, before eventually falling in the match after falling in the final set, 2-6.
San Diego claimed the doubles point after winning all three doubles matches, 8-2, 8-3, 8-2.
Matias Di Pasquale, playing at singles number four won a total of seven games, but fell to Clake Spinosa, 6-3, 6-4.
Upstate will return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Athens, Ga., to battle the Georgia Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m.
