
Spartans Close Fall Schedule With Trip to Elon

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team wraps up its fall schedule this weekend when the Spartans head north to Elon, N.C., to take part in the Elon Fall Invitational from the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
The tournament begins Friday afternoon and will conclude on Sunday and will be the fifth and final tournament of the fall for the Spartans. Upstate began the season by hosting the USC Upstate Classic before traveling to compete in the Davidson Invitational, the Winthrop Invitational and ITA Regionals.
Most recently, Spartans Yvon Haessig, Gonzalo Blanco and Ramon Simonetti all participated in the ITA Carolina Regional Oct. 17-20 and faced some of the best competition in the states of South Carolina and North Carolina. In fact, Haessig turned in a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Charlie Ghriskey of College of Charleston in the main singles draw and reached the second round.
