
Upstate Closes Homestand Saturday with Tennessee State

Spartanburg, S.C. – In search of its fourth win in its last five games, the USC Upstate men's basketball team plays host to Tennessee State Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Hodge Center.
The Spartans enter play coming off a dominating 94-67 win over Bob Jones in which Upstate set a school record for the most rebounds in a game during the Division I era with 56. Senior forward Jodd Maxey set a career-high with 14 rebounds and now leads the Atlantic Sun with 7.9 per game. Maxey added 18 points and three steals for his first double-double of the season.
Ty Greene led all scorers with 21 points to post his third game of the season with at least 20 points. Freshman Michael Buchanan set a career-high with 18 point and eight rebounds after earning his first-career start. Senior Torrey Craig added 13 points and eight rebounds and leads the league in scoring with 18.7 points per game.
Upstate and Tennessee State will be meeting on the hardwood for the second time when the two teams tipoff Saturday afternoon. In the previous meeting, Tennessee State claimed a 67-64 victory last season in Nashville, Tenn., behind the 22 points of Jordan Cyphers. Craig had 18 points in the game, while Ricardo Glenn turned in a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Spartans will also be in search of their 11th straight victory against non-conference opponents inside the Hodge Center.
