
Upstate Takes Winning Streak to Cincinnati Tuesday

Spartanburg, S.C. – On the heels of a 73-64 victory over Tennessee State, the USC Upstate men's basketball team takes its three-game winning streak to Cincinnati, Ohio, to battle the University of Cincinnati Tuesday at 7 p.m. from Fifth Third Arena.
Senior forward Torrey Craig scored a game-high 22 points to go along with three rebounds to lead a trio of Spartans in double figures against Tennessee State. Ricardo Glenn added 15 points and six rebounds, while Jodd Maxey had 10 points, eight boards and four steals.
The Spartans enter play on Tuesday having held their last three opponents to 67 points or fewer and are allowing only 63.0 points per game during that stretch. In addition, Upstate ranks first in the Atlantic Sun in field goal percentage defense by limiting opponents to just 39.6 percent shooting from the field.
USC Upstate and Cincinnati will be meeting on the hardwood for the second time when the two schools tipoff Tuesday evening. In the previous meeting, Cincinnati claimed a 69-57 victory over the Spartans during the 2007-08 season, which was the first season of Division I competition for Upstate. In that game, Upstate assistant coach Luke Payne scored a game-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, which included three 3-pointers.
USC Upstate is 1-1 all-time against teams that currently play in the American Athletic Conference. The Spartans are 0-1 all-time against Cincinnati, but are 1-0 against SMU. The Spartans won 58-56 at SMU during the 2007-08 season.
