
Spartans Continue Fall Schedule with Weekend Invitational at Davidson

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team continues the fall portion of its schedule with a weekend visit to Davidson, N.C., to take part in the Jeff Frank Invitational from the Covington Tennis Courts on the Davidson campus.
The tournament will take place Sept. 28-29 and will feature USC Upstate, Davidson, Elon and UNC Asheville.
In the first tournament of the season, the Spartans saw two of their own win individual titles at the USC Upstate Fall Classic. Senior Gonzalo Blanco won the B singles draw following four straight matches over competition from Wofford, Presbyterian, Kennesaw State and Furman.
Freshman Rajanvir Dharni earned victories in his first career action as a Spartan and went on to capture the individual title in the C singles draw. Dharni defeated opponents from Wofford, Kennesaw State and USC Upstate on his way to the crown.
Senior Yvon Haessig finished runner-up in the A singles draw and took second place with Blanco in the A doubles back draw.
Following competition at Davidson, Upstate will return to action Oct. 5-6 and compete in the Winthrop Fall Shootout from Rock Hill, S.C.
