
Spartans Finish Play at ITA Carolina Regional

Cary, N.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team was defeated in both its doubles matches Friday and has completed competition at the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional from the Cary Tennis Park.
Upstate's doubles tandem of Viktor Selander and Ramon Simonetti were defeated 8-5 by Fernando Sala and Daffra Sanon of Clemson Friday morning. The duo then fell 8-7 (6) to Dylan Comerford and Peter Nagovnak of Winthrop in the consolation bracket.
On Thursday in singles action, Selander fell to No. 13 seed Robbie Mudge of NC State 6-4, 6-3 in his opening match before dropping a 6-2, 7-6 (5) decision to Steven Billington of Campbell in the consolation round.
Simonetti lost 6-0, 6-0 to No. 16 Jack Murray of North Carolina in the first round to set up a match with Jonathan O'Neill of Campbell in the consolation bracket. O'Neill would go on to record a 7-6 (3), 6-2 victory to advance.
Upstate returns to action Oct. 31-Nov. 2 when the Spartans travel to Wilmington, N.C., to take part in the Seahawk Invitational hosted by UNC Wilmington.
