
Upstate Takes Winning Streak South to UCF

Spartanburg, S.C. – On the heels of a three-game winning streak to open the season, the USC Upstate men's basketball team looks to move to 4-0 for the first time since 2005-06 when the Spartans travel to Orlando, Fla., to face UCF Sunday at 6 p.m. from CFE Arena.
Upstate has won all three of its game by at least 13 points and enters the weekend first in the Atlantic Sun in scoring margin with an average margin of victory of 32.0 points per game. The Spartans posted a 107-41 victory over Bob Jones University Thursday to set a school record for the most points during the Division I era.
Tristan Thomas scored a career-high 21 points and went 7-for-8 from three-point range to help the Spartans finish 15-for-27 from beyond the arc. Thomas enters the weekend first in the A-Sun with a .889 three-point field goal percentage.
Ty Greene added 18 points and four three-pointers and stands tied for third in the A-Sun with 18.0 points per game. The Knoxville, Tenn., native also moved into fifth place all-time at Upstate for three-pointers made and is just seven shy of 200 for his career. Greene ranks fourth in the conference with a .611 three-point field goal percentage.
Fred Miller poured in 12 points to go along with five assists and steals against the Bruins as Upstate finished the game with 26 assists and 23 steals. The Spartans rank first in the league with 21.0 assists per game and 14.3 steals per game.
UCF owns a perfect 2-0 record after opening the season with a 64-55 victory over A-Sun foe Stetson. The Knights went on to defeat Eckerd 76-59 Thursday night behind 21 points and six rebounds from Adonys Henriquez.
Henriquez leads the team with 16.0 points per game, while B.J. Taylor stands second on the team with 11.0 points per game. Shaheed Davis adds 10.0 points per game to go along with a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game.
USC Upstate and UCF will meet for the first time when the two schools tipoff Sunday. The Spartans are 1-4 all-time against the American Athletic Conference, with two losses to both Cincinnati and East Carolina and a win against SMU.
