
Upstate Men's Tennis Drops Decision to Nicholls State

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision to Nicholls State Saturday afternoon from the Upstate Tennis Complex.
Upstate claimed the first doubles match of the day, as Matthias Kidler and Gonzalo Blanco posted an 8-2 win over Partha Adavelly and Nico Mertens from the No. 1 position. Nicholls State answered by winning the final two doubles matches to claim the point and take a 1-0 lead.
Rajanvir Dharni picked up the first point of the match for the Spartans when he bested Evan Karatzas 6-4, 6-1 from the No. 6 singles position. Adavelly put the Colonels ahead 2-1 with his 6-3, 6-4 win over Ramon Simonetti at the No. 1 position.
Jamie Yates tied the match 2-2 from the No. 4 position by beating Bernard Wezeman 6-2, 6-4, but Nicholls State was victorious in the next two singles matches to earn the two points needed to pick up the victory.
Upstate looks to rebound Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. when the Spartans host Davidson from the Upstate Tennis Complex.
