
Haessig Named to A-Sun Academic All-Conference Team

Macon, Ga. – USC Upstate senior Yvon Haessig has been selected as one of the eight members of the 2014 Atlantic Sun Men's Tennis Academic All-Conference Team, it was announced by the league office Tuesday.
It's the third consecutive season that Haessig has earned the distinction of A-Sun Academic All-Conference.
Haessig, a business administration major with a 3.83 overall grade point average, finished the regular season ranked second on the team with nine singles victories to go along with seven doubles victories. In addition, Haessig closed the regular season strong by winning his final three singles matches and enters the A-Sun Tournament having won seven of his last 10 matches overall.
Earlier this year, Haessig captured A-Sun Player of the Week honors after going 4-0 during a stretch that saw Upstate post wins over Lipscomb and Northern Kentucky. He became to the first Spartan to be named the A-Sun Men's Tennis Player of the Week since former Upstate standout Ramiro Blanco accomplished the feat March 9, 2011.
Haessig and the fifth-seeded Spartans begin play in the A-Sun Tournament Thursday at 9 a.m. against No. 4 seed Stetson.
