
Spartans Announce 2015 Men's Tennis Schedule

Spartanburg, S.C. – On the heels of a third straight trip to the Atlantic Sun Tournament, USC Upstate men's tennis head coach Oliver Trittenwein announced the Spartans' 2015 spring schedule on Wednesday.
Upstate will face a challenging non-conference schedule that begins with the home opening match against Gardner-Webb (Jan. 22) from the USC Upstate Tennis Complex. The Spartans will them embark on a six-match road trip that will take them to Furman (Jan. 27), UNC Wilmington (Jan. 30), Coastal Carolina (Jan. 31), Winthrop (Feb. 6), Presbyterian (Feb. 11) and Davidson (Feb. 21).
The Spartans return home for non-conference matches against Chattanooga (Feb. 28) and Georgia State (Feb. 28) before traveling to New Orleans, La., for matches against Fresno State (March 7) and Tulane (March 8). Upstate remains on the road for contests at Nicholls State (March 9) and UAB (March 12).
"We feel like we have a very exciting schedule with the addition of some new opponents along with some of our old rivals inside the state of South Carolina," Trittenwein said. We also feature a spring break trip to New Orleans to battle quality teams outside our region and conference in Fresno State and Tulane before getting into conference play. Our goal is to finish as one of the top two teams in the A-Sun to put us in a great position to win the conference tournament and qualify for the NCAA Tournament."
Upstate welcomes Lamar (March 15) to the USC Upstate Tennis Complex before beginning league play against Stetson (March 19) and Florida Gulf Coast (March 21). The Spartans return to non-conference action with a match against Elon (March 25) to wrap up a stretch of four straight home contests.
The final weekend of March will see Upstate travel to North Florida (March 28) and Georgia Southern (March 29) before opening April on the road against Lipscomb (April 2) and Northern Kentucky (April 4). The Spartans put the finishing touches on the regular season with a home match against Kennesaw State (April 11). Postseason play begins with the A-Sun Tournament April 17-19 from Jacksonville, Fla., at North Florida's UNF Tennis Complex.
