
Eversgerd Earns A-Sun Player of the Week Honors

Macon, Ga. – USC Upstate junior outside hitter Kayla Eversgerd was named Monday afternoon the Atlantic Sun Volleyball Player of the Week for her performance this past weekend at The Spartanburg Courtyard Classic from Wofford.
She is the first Spartan to be selected as conference Player of the Week since Holly Mauldin on Nov. 17, 2008.
Eversgerd was named to The Spartanburg Courtyard Classic All-Tournament Team after leading the squad with 51 kills as the Spartans finished 3-1 with wins over Wofford, Tennessee Tech and North Carolina A&T. Her 51 kills ranked second at the tournament, and was fourth with 69 digs. She averaged 3.19 kills and 4.31 digs per set. Eversgerd had a double-double in all four matches highlighted by 15 kills versus North Carolina A&T and 20 digs against Wofford.
She is currently second on the team in kills with 139 and fourth in digs with 153. Eversgerd leads Upstate in kills per set at 3.23 and is second with 3.56 digs per set. In the A-Sun, she ranks fifth in kills per set, eighth in digs per set, ninth in kills and 11th in digs.
This is her first career Player of the Week award and is the second Spartan this season to receive a weekly honor from the conference. Lexi Gober received Defensive Player of the Week accolades last week.
