
Upstate Concludes First Round Play at Winthrop Intercollegiate

Rock Hill, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's golf team fired an opening round 342 on Saturday to sit in eighth place following day one of the Winthrop Intercollegiate from the Rock Hill Country Club.
Payton Culler turned in the top individual performance for Upstate on Saturday with a first round score of 81 to sit in a tie for 22nd place.
Culler was followed by Sidney Dermody who is tied for 29th place after her opening round 84 while Malika Allie is tied for 36th as she posted a score of 88. Allea Hawkins carded a first round 89 to be in a tie for 38th and Allie Gennaula rounds out the individual standings for the Spartans in a tie for 42nd with a 90.
Appalachian State holds the day one lead with a total score of 308 while ASU's Savanna Wood tops the individual standings after her round of 73.
The final day of the Winthrop Intercollegiate is slated to begin at 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
