
Upstate Tangles with Kennesaw State on Senior Day

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's soccer team begins its season-ending two-game home stretch Sunday afternoon when it hosts the Kennesaw State Owls at 1 p.m. on Senior Day.
Upstate (3-12-2, 1-4-1) will hold its Senior Day festivities prior to the game as it honors nine seniors who are playing their final games at County University Soccer Stadium.
The Spartans picked up a 1-0 overtime win in their non-conference road finale Wednesday evening at Francis Marion. Rachel Baylor scored her fourth goal of the season, tying for the team-lead, to lift Upstate to the golden goal victory during the first overtime period. Kate Winegarner and Nicki Krejci assisted on the Baylor goal as Winegarner picked up her third of the year to tie with Kenzie Major for the team-lead while Krejci collected her second.
Ellen Bright ranks fifth nationally in total saves and 15th in saves per game. Bright also leads the A-Sun in saves, is third in save percentage and seventh in goals against average. Baylor and Winegarner are tied for ninth in the conference in goals, while Winegarner and Major sit tied for sixth in assists.
Kennesaw State currently holds a 5-9-2 overall record and 2-3-1 mark in the A-Sun under the direction of 14th-year head coach Rob King. Brittney Reed has scored a team-high seven goals this season and is tied for the team-lead with Cassidy Kemp at 15 points. Ida Hepsoe adds six assists and Ashley Zambetti has grabbed 54 saves for a .684 save percentage and 1.93 goals against average.
The Owls hold an 11-0-0 lead in the all-time series over the Spartans.
