
Upstate Continues Road Trip Monday at Presbyterian College

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's basketball team remains on the road Monday evening as it makes the short trip south to Clinton, S.C. to face the Presbyterian College Blue Hose at 7 p.m. from the Templeton Center.
Upstate (0-1) began its season Friday evening with a 104-64 loss at Texas A&M in the first-ever meeting between the two teams. Josh Cuthbertson led the Spartans with a team-high 15 points, falling just one shy of tying his career-high, and seven rebounds on 5-of-9 shooting and 4-of-7 from behind the three-point line. Michael Buchanan came off the bench to contribute 10 points and five rebounds.
Cuthbertson currently sits third in the A-Sun this season in field goal percentage, fifth in assists, sixth in three-point field goal percentage and tied for ninth in scoring. Buchanan is tied for eighth in field goal percentage.
As a team, the Spartans are tied for first in the conference in offensive rebounds and steals.
Presbyterian College (0-1) dropped its season opener on Friday 63-53 at Furman. The Blue Hose are led by head coach Gregg Nibert, who is in his 27th season at PC. DeSean Murray is averaging a team-high 18 points per game this season for Presbyterian College while Markus Terry adds 10.0 points per contest. John Majors II boasts a team-best 7.0 rebounds per game.
Upstate and PC are meeting for the 25th time in program history and first since 2006-07 when both schools were members of the Division II ranks. The series is tied 12-12 overall and each team has split each of the last four meetings dating back to 2003-04. The Spartans trail 8-6 when playing in Clinton.
