
Three Spartans Reach Finals at USC Upstate Fall Classic

Spartanburg, S.C. – Three USC Upstate Spartans reached the finals of their respective brackets to highlight competition on the second day of the USC Upstate Fall Classic from the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.
Upstate senior Ramon Simonetti turned in two victories in the black draw to earn a spot in the finals and setup a championship match with Danny Bruce. Simonetti opened day two with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Galen Arney of Furman in the quarterfinals before besting Alex Croker of UNC Asheville 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals.
Sophomore Felix Ewers upset top-seeded Stefan Rhodes of Furman 7-6, 6-0 in the green draw to reach the semifinals against Diego Manzanas. Ewers continued his winning ways against Manzanas, turning in a 4-6, 7-6, 6-2 victory to qualify for the finals against teammate Ignacio Garrido.
Garrido's path to the finals began with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Henry Pattern over UNC Asheville and finished with a 6-4, 6-1 win over teammate Matt Bennion in the semifinals. Championship matches will begin Sunday at 10 a.m.
Spartans Lenhard Haupt and Rajanvir Dharni will play for the title in the consolation bracket of the white doubles draw. The duo will face Rhodes and Alex Steryous of Furman Sunday at 10 a.m.
