Upstate Men Post Second Place Finish at Winthrop/adidas Invitational

Rock Hill, S.C. – Griffin Eubanks recorded his sixth career top-10 finish to help lead the USC Upstate men's cross country team to a second place finish in the Gold Division Saturday morning during the 32nd annual Winthrop/adidas Invitational.
The men's team began the morning by compiling 57 points in the Gold Division 8K race highlighted by two top-20 performances. Eubanks led the way for Upstate in 10th place with a time of 25:58.30 and was followed by Alex Love in 18th place after crossing the finish line in 26:43.60.
Martin Morrow and Mark Rennix finished in 28th and 29th places, respectively, with times of 27:21.70 and 27:27.40. Dorian Jones was one of three Spartan men to set new personal-best times on Saturday as he posted a time of 27:48.50, good enough for a 32nd place showing. Abraham Hernandez turned in a 40th place finish following his time of 28:30.40 while Logan Ray completed the course in 53rd place after running a 29:24.40. Roman Mealing and Marcus Miles both set new personal-best times with Mealing running the course in 29:52.10 and Miles 29:59.60. Mealing would finish 57th overall with Miles seven spots behind him in 64th place. Josh Lee (79th, 31:11.30) and Calin Schumacher (82nd, 31:37.70) rounded the men's competition for Upstate.
The Spartan women followed in the Gold Division 5K race by finishing fourth after collecting 107 points. Anastasia Kolesnitchenko posted the top individual performance for Upstate as the senior finished in 37th place with a time of 19:59.30. Ashleigh Torres was the second-fastest Spartan after placing 39th overall with her time of 20:00.50. Torres was followed by Molly Bliss in 48th place (20:20.60) and Rebecca Elliott in 72nd (21:19.00). Haley McCoy achieved a new personal-best time in the 5K of 21:33.50 en route to a 76th place finish. Kelsey Warren capped the race off with her time of 23:48.10.
Upstate returns to Milliken Research Center on Saturday, Oct. 3 as it hosts the Upstate Invitational beginning at 9 a.m.
