
NSCAA Recognizes Upstate Soccer for Academic Success

Kansas City, Mo. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) recognized the USC Upstate men's and women's soccer teams on Tuesday for academic success during the 2014-15 academic year.
The NSCAA annually recognized college soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field. A total of 859 soccer teams (305 men, 554 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA College Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 academic year.
On the men's side, three teams were recognized with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 of better. Lipscomb, North Florida and USC Upstate were honored by the NSCAA after achieving academic success in the 2014-15 academic year. Lipscomb finished with a 3.06 GPA, while North Florida brought home a 3.22 GPA and USC Upstate was the highest ranked men's A-Sun team at 3.39
Five women's programs were honored by the NSCAA on Tuesday as Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville, Lipscomb, North Florida and USC Upstate produced GPA's of 3.00 or higher. Lipscomb's team GPA was 3.69, the highest among A-Sun teams, closely followed by Florida Gulf Coast's 3.52. The Spartans of USC Upstate finished with a 3.47 GPA, while River City rivals Jacksonville (3.36) and North Florida (3.35) rounded out the league's selections.
Lipscomb, North Florida and USC Upstate were among 208 schools with both men's and women's programs recognized by the NSCAA.
