
Upstate Finishes 13th at Jacksonville Classic

Jacksonville, Fla. – The USC Upstate women's golf team turned in a 13th place performance at the season-opening Jacksonville Classic following a final round score of 325 on Tuesday at the Marsh Landing Country Club.
Upstate concluded the tournament with a 54-hole score of 959 led by Payton Culler who finished tied for 47th place. Culler improved her score for the second straight round after carding a 75, highlighted by two birdies, on Tuesday and fell just two strokes shy of tying her career-low round. She finished the tournament with a total score of 230.
Allea Hawkins had the second-highest finish for the Spartans as she posted a final round 85 to tie for 57th place. Hawkins tallied a three-round score of 234.
Allie Gennaula and Malika Allie posted scores of 85 and 80 to end play at the Jacksonville Classic. Gennaula tied for 70th place with her score of 249 while Allie recorded a 251 to finish in 72nd position.
Florida State took home top honors at the Jacksonville Classic following a two-day score of 853. Matilda Castren of Florida State won the individual championship after shooting a 212.
Upstate travels to Clarksville, Tenn. Oct. 12-13 for the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate.
