
Upstate Runners Return to Action at HPU VertCross Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – Following a weekend off, the USC upstate cross country teams will return to the course on Friday afternoon as they travel to the HPU VertCross Invitational at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville, N.C.
The men's 8k race begins at 4:30 p.m. followed by the women's 6k race at 5:15 p.m. The Spartans are one of 20 schools competing along with Appalachian State, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, Davidson (men only), Duke, East Carolina, Elon, George Mason, Longwood, Marshall, Northern Kentucky, Richmond, UNC Wilmington, The Citadel, VMI, Western Carolina and Wofford.
At the Upstate Invite on Oct. 1, the men's team finished in third place led by a personal-best time from senior Theodore Kountourogiannis as he finished in 11th place. Dorian Jones and Alex Love also recorded season-best times. Leah Jostes and Alicia Chavez led the women's team as they both finished with personal-best times under the 20-minute mark.
Upstate will return to Milliken Research Center on Saturday, Oct. 29 as it hosts the ASUN Championship.
