Upstate Cross Country Competes at HPU VertCross Invite

Kernersville, N.C. – The USC Upstate cross country teams returned to action on Friday afternoon as the Spartans ran in the HPU VertCross Invite at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex.
The Upstate men's team finished in 17th place while the women posted a 19th place performance.
NOTEWORTHY
- Theodore Kountourogiannis led the Spartan men with a 64th place finish as he crossed the finish line in 26:27.09.
- Essence Jackson was the top finisher for the Upstate women's team in the first race of the season at the 6k distance.
- George Mason was the team winner for the men while Duke claimed the women's race.
- Appalachian State's Chris Anderson won the men's race while Joan Maritim of Campbell claimed the women's race.
