Paksanont's First Career Top-10 Finish Highlights Final Day for Upstate at Jacksonville Classic

Jacksonville, Fla. – The USC Upstate women's golf team completed play at the Jacksonville Classic on Tuesday afternoon at the par 72, 6051-yard Marsh Landing Country Club, shooting a 306 in the final round as Pan Paksanont claimed the top individual position on the team.
Upstate finished 13th in the tournament after posting rounds of 315, 304 and 306 for a 925 total. The Spartans counted scores of 74 from Paksanont, 75 from Payton Culler, 77 from Anna Chanthaphaeng, 80 from Sidney Dermody and 94 from Allie Gennaula. Paksanont recorded her first career top-10 finish after placing in a tie for ninth with a 221 (73-74-74) total.
Paksanont turned in a solid showing at the Jacksonville Classic finishing tenth or better in several categories. The freshman turned in a total of 39 pars during the two-day tournament to tie for fifth, and tied for tenth in both par 4 and par 5 scoring. Paksanont averaged 4.10 strokes on the par 4's and scored 1-under, 4.92 stroke average, on par 5 holes.
Culler also concluded tournament play tied for ninth on par 3 scoring with an even-par 3.00 stroke average.
Daytona State College won the Jacksonville Classic by 16 strokes over second place Nova Southeastern with a three-round 865. Daytona State's Jiwon Jeon held off teammate Grace St. Germain by one stroke to win individual medalist honors with a 4-under 212.
Culler was the second highest finisher for Upstate, tying for 34th place with a combined score of 228 (80-73-75). Chanthaphaeng placed in a tie for 45th at 232 (80-75-77) followed by Dermody who tied for 68th place with a 244 (82-82-80). Gennaula rounded out the leaderboard for the Spartans in 75th position after compiling a score of 263 (85-84-94).
Upstate closes out its fall season Oct. 10-11 at the Wofford Invitational from The Country Club of Spartanburg.
