
Cross Country Ready for NCAA Southeast Regional

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate cross country team will wrap up the 2016 season on Friday as the Spartans travel to Earlysville, Va. for the NCAA Southeast Regional meet hosted by the University of Virginia at Panorama Farms. Admission to the meet is free, however, there is a $5 parking fee.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with the women's 6k race followed by the men's 10k at Noon. This will be the first race of the season at the 10k distance and the second race of the season for the Upstate women at the 6K distance after running at the HPU Vert XC Invite on Oct. 14.
Upstate hosted the ASUN Championships on Oct. 29 with the men earning a fourth place finish and the women scoring a seventh place finish. Dorian Jones and Theodore Kountourogiannis earned Second Team All-Conference honors after finishing in eighth and 14th place, respectively. Essence Jackson led the women's team with a new personal best time as she finished in 37th place. The Spartans had multiple personal bests for both teams.
In 2015, the men's team finished in 25th place while the women finished in 31st. A total of 38 teams are scheduled to compete from schools in North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky and Virginia.

The 2016 NCAA Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind.
