Upstate Sits 15th in Team Standings after Second Day of Eagle Invitational

Estero, Fla. – The USC Upstate women's golf team posted a second round 332 on Saturday and is in 15th place overall entering the final day of competition at the Eagle Invitational from Stoneybrook Country Club.
Upstate entered the day in 14th place but dropped to 15th after shooting a 332. Mercer cut eight strokes off its first round score to post a 293 and leads the Eagle Invitational by 13 shots over Toledo. Payton Schanen of Mercer holds a four stroke lead entering the final day of competition over Florida Gulf Coast's Mei Khuan Yong and Arkansas State's Aracelly Jimenez.
Malika Allie improved her score by six strokes on Saturday with a second round 81 and is currently tied for 76th place with a 168. The 81 is her second-lowest round this season after carding a first round 79 at the Terrier Intercollegiate.
Sidney Dermody leads the Spartans in the individual standings as the sophomore is in a tie for 50th position after her second round 83 for a two-day score of 160. Payton Culler turned in a score of 82 on Saturday and is two back of Dermody in a tie for 56th at 162.
Allea Hawkins posted her second straight round of 86 and heads into the final day tied for 79th at 172. Allie Gennaula closed out her day in 81st position with an 89 and has a two-round score of 175.
The third, and final, round of the Eagle Invitational will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday morning with a reverse shotgun start. Live scoring of the Eagle Invitational will be available through BirdieFire.
