Spartans Open Home Portion of 2016 Schedule on Tuesday

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's soccer team will play its home opener on Tuesday night as the Spartans welcome Winthrop to County University Stadium for a 7 p.m. match.
Upstate is 0-1 after a season-opening 1-0 loss at ETSU on Friday. Brooke Bailey made 13 saves in goal while Kate Winegarner led the Spartans with a pair of shots. Upstate held an 8-6 edge in corner kicks.
Winthrop is 0-1 following a 3-1 home defeat to Western Carolina on Sunday.
Tuesday's match is the third all-time meeting with Winthrop holding a 2-0 edge. Upstate is 3-6 in home openers with its last win coming in 2013.

Upstate will play a pair of games this weekend, traveling to South Carolina State on Friday before hosting Gardner-Webb on Sunday. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m.
